The ruins of Euromos are about 10km north of Milas on the road to Söke. The city seems to have thrived from about 200BC to 200AD. The Temple of Zeus comes from the end of that time, being probably the third temple on that site. The lack of fluting on several of the slim columns hints at the money running out and the decline of Euromos as an economic power. There has been little archaeological work on the rest of the site until recently. As of 2014, there is an active dig in process in several parts of Euromos. A single excavation in the theatre zoomed in accurately on the royal box, a rather nice piece of marble carving.
